At a special virtual awards ceremony held on Wednesday 27 May, Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Charlie Casey gave special recognition to 30 inspirational community organisations and individuals from across the district for the work they do within their communities.
Amongst these, was Edmund Lennon, who received the Chairman’s award in recognition of a lifetime of volunteering to his local community. Edmund, or Ned as he’s better known, has been a stalwart of the Saval community, in both the GAA club, and Parish. The award recognises this lifetime commitment that he has made to the club, parish, and community of Saval.
Congratulating Ned on the award, Gerard Quinn, Chairperson of Saval GAC said “it’s great to see this recognition from our local council, for the years of dedication that Ned has given to the community of Saval”. Ms May Cull, was quick to recollect her memories of him helping in the parish as only a toddler. Truly, a lifetime commitment!
