The team at Fiveways Supermarket, Newry have handed over £5000 to PIPS Hope and Support following their nomination of the local suicide prevention charity in Nisa’s ‘Heart of the Community Awards’.

The Heart of the Community Awards is organised by NISA as part of their making a difference locally to allow their retailers to nominate local charities to win a donation from a massive £150,000.00 pot of funding.

In November 2020, Fiveways Supermarket received confirmation that their nomination had been success for funding and that local suicide prevention charity PIPS Hope and Support was to receive an incredible £5,000.00 to assist the charity in providing fundamental support to the community.

Yvonne Carr from Fiveways explains their delight “Fiveways Supermarket is delighted that our nomination for PIPS Hope & Support suicide prevention charity has been chosen by Nisa Making a Difference resulting in the amazing donation of £5,000. We hope that this will indeed make a difference during these uncertain times to a truly local charity which is ready to provide vital support at a time when others find it difficult to know how to help. In these times when many are struggling, we are immensely proud to be able to champion PIPS and the work they do for those experiencing emotional or mental distress within our community and beyond.”

PIPS Hope & Support fundraising coordinator, Padraig Harte thanked Yvonne, Mr Hagan and the whole team at Fiveways Supermarket for their support: “PIPS Hope and Support thank Yvonne, Mr Hagan and the entire team at Fiveways Supermarket for their nomination to win this incredible amount of monies for our charity.  2020 has been a tough year for charities and we are delighted with the support from Yvonne and the team as we recover from the strain of Covid-19.   Like all donations to our charity which we are forever grateful for, will allow PIPS Hope and Support to continue providing immediate therapy to anyone within the community experiencing suicidal thoughts, high levels of anxiety, poor mental health or bereaved through suicide.  Our thanks also to Nisa for developing the ‘Heart of the Community’ awards and has made this all financially possible.  We take this opportunity to wish Fiveways and Nisa best wishes and every success.”
