Raiders have escaped with a substantial amount of money following a break-in at a filling station in Forkhill in the early hours of Friday morning 12 January.
It’s believed the break-in of the business on the Carrickasticken Road happened between 1.45am and 3.30am.
A kiosk in the forecourt was broken into and a significant amount of cash, contained within a safe, stolen. Three men, wearing face masks and hoods, are believed to have used a grinder to access the safe’s contents.
Sergeant Scott McBride said: “Our investigation is underway and we are appealing to anyone with any information, mobile phone, CCTV or dash-cam footage that can help with our enquiries to call us on 101 and quoting reference 240 12/01/24
You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.
Slieve Gullion Councillor Mickey Larkin has appealed for anyone who might have information that can help apprehend the thieves, to contact the police.
Cllr Larkin said “The break-in on the business on the Carricksticken Road is an appalling act of criminal theft and damage.”
“Those engaged in these criminal attacks are motivated by greed and care nothing for the damage they are inflicting on the business involved nor the community it serves.
“Anyone who might have information that could help identify these thieves should contact the PSNI immediately”.
