Write a commentThe Brain Injury Foundation, which supports brain injury survivors and their carers across the Southern Trust, Santa Claus is offering free visits to children under 10 who have disabilities or who are housebound and who live in Newry and Mourne.
Frank Dolaghan, Chair of the Foundation, is one of Santa’s helpers and explained “Our volunteer, John Hicks, suggested that, as we have received so much public support since we were launched just over two years ago, we should give something back to our community and so last year we started offering free home visits by Santa Claus and some of his elves to children who have disabilities of any kind or who are housebound for any reason. The visits were very well received by children and parents. As one parent said “This is the only way my child could get to see Santa and Santa and his elf were just brilliant.”
We are offering the visits again this year and the visits will take place in December. To request a visit, a parent should text one of Santa’s elves at 07936454573 with brief details of their child and their own mobile number and address and we will be in touch to make the arrangements for the visit. Santa may not be able to get around every home as, of course, December is his busy month but he will do his very best.”
Santa will also be in attendance at the Brain Injury Foundation’s Christmas Fayre in Altnaveigh House on Saturday 6th December and he will be meeting children in Newry Market on 14th December and in Tesco’s on Saturday 20th December for free gifts and free photo opportunities.”
