Fews area Councillor Pat Mc Ginn who attended the Twinning Committee meeting welcomed the initiative. “Communities throughout Ireland are showcasing and sharing the very best of Irish culture, tradition, business, sport, fighting spirit and the uniquely Irish sense of fun. Throughout 2013, Ireland is opening its arms to hundreds of thousands of friends and family from all over the world, calling them home to gatherings in villages, towns and cities. The Camloch  Crooked Lake Triathlon now regarded as one of the highest profile sporting challenges in the area celebrates its 10th year of existence and this event in partnership with our Clare counterparts will add to the celebrations. It will truly be a day for “An Teacht le Chéile”, “gathering together”” said the local Sinn Fein elected representative.

Newry Councillor Jack Patterson also welcomed the staging of the event. “The Crooked Lake Triathlon has grown from strength to strength with many athletes from all over Ireland attending it. I was privileged to be the Mayor at the first ever Crooked Lake Triathlon.I look forward to celebrating the 10th anniversary along with all those involved and the many visitors”.

The Gathering Clare Festival and Events Expo will be launched this weekend in Ennis and the Crooked Lake triathlon Gathering Breakfast will be one of the many hundreds of events promoted throughout the year by the Clare Gathering 2013 organisers.

Cllr Frank Feely also attended the Twinning meeting and supported the proposal.
