The Newry site at Glen Dimplex has had long links with the Southern Area Hospice Services in Newry both in terms of supporting through fundraising events over the years, and from personal links formed by many of our colleagues and their families.
At the start of July, volunteers from Glen Dimplex came together to transform the garden at Fern House at Southern Area Hospice Services. The Engagement Committee took charge and identified an opportunity to transform the garden area. Early inspection showed great potential to make a huge difference to this beautiful space, including uncovering the high stone wall which was entirely hidden with overgrown trees and bushes. Thanks to their hard work, the team managed to revitalise the garden area and create a wonderful new space.

In addition to the volunteering day, Glen Dimplex arranged a summer event at their site in Newry in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the company. Along with an on-site BBQ, staff enjoyed taking part in an array of fun activities, team challenges, and a grand raffle. By the end of the day, Glen Dimplex managed to raise a fantastic £1,427 in funds for Southern Area Hospice Services.
Damien Hillen, Director of Development at Southern Area Hospice Services commented, "On behalf of everyone at Southern Area Hospice Services I would like to thank the fantastic team at Glen Dimplex for their remarkable support. The transformative work done to the gardens in Fern House is incredible and the money raised during their 50th-anniversary celebration will undoubtedly enhance the lives of the patients and families that we care for. Thank you, to everyone at Glen Dimplex, for your compassion and support, it really does make a difference."
To mark its 50-year celebration, Glen Dimplex developed a global community programme where employees take part in volunteering initiatives in their local areas. Following the success of this year’s events, Glen Dimplex have announced this programme will be an annual event and look forward to extending their support to more local communities in the years to come.
