Write a commentIt's been a busy day for NI Fire and Rescue Service and Forestry Service personel in the Newry area with numerous outbreaks of gorse fires, the most serious being at Balllintemple Road on Slieve Gullion where 2 to 3 acres of gorse caught fire. People are asked to avoid the area.
Six fire appliances and specialist wildfire resources are tackling the Slieve Gullion blaze.
Other damaging fires that crew dealt with today included the Flagstaff viewpoint and a fire at Derybeg/ The Meadow this evening.
A number of other fires are still visible in the south Armagh/north Louth area at present.
