Cllr Kevin McAteer has had much reason to celebrate this week having graduated with a BSc in Sociology and Anthropology from Queen’s University.
While completing his final year of study, Kevin also ran a successful election campaign, which resulted in him becoming the youngest ever councillor on Newry, Mourne and Down District council.
The SDLP councillor said: “It’s been a rollercoaster but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Queen’s and the degree was endlessly interesting. A Queen’s degree really enhances employability – the university has links to over 3,000 local, national and international companies. Right now, I’m concentrating on politics for the day-job and loving every minute of it, but it’s great to have a few strings to the bow, and who knows where my career will take me in the future?”
