Thousands of people visited Slieve Gullion Forest Park over the past week for the final event in Newry, Mourne and Down District Council's Giant Adventures series for 2025.
Footsteps in the Forest took place from Monday 20 to Sunday 26 October, celebrating the ancient festival of Samhain. Visitors embarked on an illuminated trail through the forest, encountering costumed characters, mythical creatures and captivating storytelling along the way. The atmospheric setting of Slieve Gullion provided the backdrop for an experience that blended legend, light and Halloween wonder.

The event continues to grow in popularity each year, delighting audiences of all ages while highlighting the area's rich folklore and the breathtaking landscapes of the Ring of Gullion. The week-long programme featured dedicated autism-friendly sessions and the final night included Irish language sessions, continuing the council's commitment to inclusivity and celebrating local culture.
Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council, Councillor Philip Campbell said: "We are thrilled by the continued success of Footsteps in the Forest, which has become one of the most anticipated events in our Giant Adventures calendar. The event brings the story of Samhain to life in a unique setting and continues to attract visitors who want to experience the magic, myth and mystery of Slieve Gullion."
