It is clear that too many lives are being put at risk every day in rural areas due to people ignoring speed limits, especially when approaching rural villages.”
“We had a very productive meeting with the PSNI who have listened to our concerns and agreed to now increase activities around this problem where practical. They have also agreed to increase awareness and visibility of these activities via social media. A campaign like this can be very powerful.
Cllr McMahon also added “Drivers engaging in speeding is an ongoing problem, especially in places like Ballyholland, Mayobridge and the Strangford Road in Downpatrick. This has been a great opportunity to engage with the PSNI in order to voice these concerns and I look forward to their feedback in the time ahead.”
