ABP Newry Show to host All Ireland Final

This year’s ABP Newry Show on Saturday 24 June will host the All-Ireland Aberdeen Angus Championships for the very first time. It's part of the World Angus Forum 2017 and will see around 100 forum delegates from all over the world descend on Newry over the weekend with delegates staying in the Canal Court Hotel on Saturday night.

“It's a tremendous honour for us to host what is the most prestigious Aberdeen Angus event to take place on the island of Ireland annually," Newry Agricultural Society chairman Kyle Henry said.

"And adding to the special nature of the day will be the fact that 100 Forum delegates, from a host of countries around the world, will be with us to enjoy the spectacle and colour associated with what promises to be a wonderful event.”

The show once again will be held at Newry Rugby Club, Hilltown Road with something for everyone. As well as the cattle sheep and goat exhibits there will be a dog show, home industries, fashion show, a food pavilion, animal park for the children, tug of war and much more.

ABP Food Group has been announced as the principal sponsor of Newry Show, taking place on Saturday 24 June. This year the Show plays host to the All Ireland Aberdeen Angus Championships as part of the Ireland leg of the Aberdeen Angus World Forum. Speaking about the prestigious final, NI Aberdeen Angus committee and Newry Show Cattle Committee member Sidney Cromie said.“Newry Show will be a tremendous opportunity to profile the quality and depth of Aberdeen Angus breeding in this part of the world”

“Breed numbers are on the up, given the continuing recognition given by all the major food retailers of the quality inherent in Angus beef, and this trend is set to grow further during the period ahead.”

ABP Food Group, which has had a major presence in Newry since 1983, will be this years Newry Show's headline sponsors.

Roger Sheahan, General manage at ABP in Newry said "We have a close association with livestock farmers in the south Down area for more than two decades and are a major supplier of Angus beef to leaving retail and food service customers.

"We look forward to meeting with our local livestock producers at the show and extending a warm welcome to delegates from the World Angus Forum."
