The PlayStation 5 is more in demand in Newry than in any city in the UK, according to a new study by tech experts Repair Outlet.
The study, which compares keyword search volume across 69 cities, found that the term “PS5” was searched most frequently in Newry, relative to the city’s population size, with a search rate of 24.6 per 1000 people. In contrast, the PS5 was the least in demand in Chester, with a search rate of only 0.75 per 1000 people.

Repair Outlet’s study revealed that the term PS5 was Googled a staggering 28 million times last month, often accompanied by terms such as “availability”, “where to buy” and “restock”. With such high demand, coupled with manufacturing issues such as global chip shortages and shipping disruptions, experts predict that console shortages will continue without 2022.
