*Oriel Traditional Music Archive (OTMA) are be holding a series of six archival training events in Newry with the first one taking place this Wednesday 24 April at their Chapel Street location.
The events in collaboration with GCG Museum Services will be covering best practices in collecting, archiving and preserving and are aimed at anyone interested in learning how to collect, record, preserve and archive.
Oriel Traditional Music Archive (OTMA) aims to create an inclusive archive of local Irish traditional music, song and artifacts which will be available online, as well as drop-in access at the organisation’s premises at Gaelaras Mhic Ardghail, Chapel St, Newry.
The training will be delivered by Dr. Nicholas Wright archeologist and Ballycastle Project Officer at the Causeway Coast and Glens Museum Services.
It is a great opportunity to meet with Dr Wright and find out the best practices around collecting oral histories. There will also be time for Q&A at the end of the session.
The following 5 sessions will be taking place from the following Wednesday. Some of them will take place in Newry whilst others will take place online. The sessions can be attended individually.
