Southern Area Hospice is calling on the local community to get behind its ‘Big Bucket Collection’, which takes place in towns and villages throughout the Southern Trust area on Friday 22 March 2024 with the aim of raising £40,000.
Collections will take place in locations including Armagh, Newry, Dungannon, Warrenpoint, Camlough, Kilkeel, Banbridge, Coalisland, Rostrevor, Lurgan, Castlewellan and Crossmaglen, as well as various stores across the Southern Trust area.
The charity provides wrap-around support for patients' physical, emotional, and social needs, and will also support their families through this process. The hospice ensures that care is centred around the individual’s wishes and needs, supporting them from the point of diagnosis and helping them to live well with their condition. It provides this support through an inpatient unit, community services and bereavement support services.
With an aim to raise £40,000 in just one day for Hospice services, the hospice is seeking volunteers to make the collection a ‘big’ success. Funds raised will enable the Hospice to continue providing specialist palliative care and support to people living in the Southern Trust area. £40,000 could fund two weeks of 24-hour inpatient nursing care for up to 14 patients.
Siobhan McArdle Fundraising Manager said, “Last year, our ‘Big Bucket Collection’ raised a fantastic total of £40,126. This was because of the overwhelming level of support from local people, businesses and schools. This year we really hope to replicate this across the board. If you can donate one or two hours of your time to collect in your town, we would love to hear from you. It really does make a big difference.”
Could you and your family, friends or work colleagues volunteer at one of the collection locations? If you would like to take part, Southern Area Hospice would love to hear from you. To give a helping hand, please contact Rosie on 028 3026 7711 or email vs@southernareahospiceservices.org
