The hard working Fundraising Team at Southern Area Hospice Services has been awarded ‘Fundraising Team of the Year’ at the Hays NI Institute of Fundraising Awards in Belfast this week. The prestigious ceremony held in the Belfast Harbour Commissioners Office highlighted the important work done by the charity sector.

The event was hosted by BBC weather man, Barra Best and included guest speakers Debra Alcock-Tylor, Chief Executive Officer of the Directory of Social Change.  Guests also heard from Peter Lewis, Chief Executive of the Institute of Fundraising.

Speaking about winning the award, Majella Gollogly, Fundraising Manager at Southern Area Hospice Services said: “I am privileged to be part of this team, winning ‘Fundraising Team of the Year’ is the “icing on the cake”, we thank all our volunteers and supporters who help us to achieve our targets and in so doing our helping us to continue to care for local patients and their families.”

During the ceremony, compere Barra Best said that the judges had a clear outright winner in this category and that this team worked with dedication, commitment and enthusiasm in order to reach such a high financial target of £2.6 million annually.  The judges commended the Hospice team on their innovative fundraising techniques and congratulated them on their success.

Liz Cuddy, Chief Executive of Southern Area Hospice congratulated the team saying: “I am absolutely delighted that our Fundraising Team were awarded Fundraising Team of the Year in N Ireland (2018) at the prestigious Institute of Fundraising Award Ceremony in Belfast earlier this week   This is well-deserved recognition and a fitting accolade for our hardworking  team. It also recognises the great support our Hospice receives from the local community, for which we are extremely grateful.  I thank everyone who supports our Hospice and helps us to raise such vital funds every day to keep our services going”
