The Evora Hospice Midnight Memory Walk will return for its 18th year on Saturday 26 September, with people from the local community taking part to remember loved ones while raising funds for Hospice care. The 6km walk begins and ends at St Colman's College and has become an established date in the Hospice calendar.
Each year families, friends and colleagues walk in memory of someone special, sharing stories and reflecting on memories while supporting the work of Evora Hospice. The event is open to everyone, whether or not their loved one received Hospice care, and for many the walk offers an opportunity to remember someone they have lost while helping to ensure local families continue to receive the care and support they need when facing a life-limiting illness.
McKeevers Chemists are event sponsor with the company's continued generosity playing an important role in making the walk possible.
One of the highlights of the evening will once again be a performance of the Hospice Song by The Choir Studio Newry, who have recorded and performed the song for the past 18 years. Speaking about their involvement, The Choir Studio Newry said: "The Hospice is an organisation that is incredibly close to our hearts. Many of our choir members and their families have experienced the exceptional care, compassion, dignity and support that the Hospice provides, and we know firsthand the difference it makes during life's most difficult moments."
The choir added: "Recording our Hospice Song each year is a true privilege. It gives us the opportunity to honour and remember our loved ones who are no longer with us, while also celebrating the extraordinary work of the Hospice and helping to raise awareness and support for the vital services they provide to families in our community."
Everyone is welcome to take part in this year's Midnight Memory Walk, and every step taken and every pound raised will help Evora Hospice continue providing specialist care and support to local patients and their families.
