Newry and Armagh MP Dáire Hughes had renewed calls for the British government to establish a public inquiry into the murder of Sean Brown without further delay.
Sean Brown was abducted by the LVF at Bellaghy GAC in 1997 and murdered but many questions remain about his murder.
Mr Hughes was speaking in London after meeting members of the Brown family and the Pat Finucane Centre who had travelled to the city to continue their campaign for justice.
“Twenty-eight years on from his killing, it is a shameful indictment of British justice that Sean Brown’s family are still fighting for truth and accountability,” said the Newry and Armagh MP.
“The depth of feeling in communities across Ireland should not be underestimated. That was reflected in the thousands who gathered in Bellaghy in solidarity with the Brown family.
“The courts have been clear — the only viable, human rights-compliant way to achieve truth and justice is through a fully independent public inquiry."
Mr Hughes added “It’s time for the truth. The British government must end its cruel campaign of delay and denial, which shows a shocking level of contempt and disrespect for Bridie Brown and her family.
“Sinn Féin will continue to stand with the Browns and all families still seeking answers about the killings of their loved ones”
