Write a commentOver Christmas Santa's Cottage in Hilltown has raised an incredible £27,014.69 & €134.53 for Southern Area Hospice and £4385.81 for Life & Time.
Lawrence & Bernadette Moore and family, proprietors of the magical Santa’s Cottage Hilltown, were saddened that this year they had to cancel all 2020 bookings due to restrictions. They had the cottage prepped entirely with lights set up, and of course Santa himself lined up to greet local families. The Moore Family turned this negative situation into one of positivity at a time when they sadly had to close their doors to visitors. They kindly decided to switch on Santa's lights on the designated weekends leading up to Christmas with proceeds raised in aid of Southern Area Hospice Services, then also Life & Time.
A grand total of £27,014.69 & €134.53 was presented to Southern Area Hospice on Tuesday by Grainne Marron, Shea & Conor Marron and Bernadette & Lawrence Moore (Santa Cottage Owners). This money raised will help Hospice to continue to provide much needed care to patients and give support to their families this year. A further £4385.81 was also donated to Life & Time.
The Southern Area Hospice wish to give a heartfelt thanks to the Moore Family for running this fantastic event and also wish to extend their thanks to every single person who visited Santa's Cottage this year and made a donation in aid of Southern Area Hospice Services. Lizzie McCullough, SAHS Fundraising Officer stated “We have been absolutely blown away by the generosity of both our community and those who volunteered at the cottage. Each year at the hospice, we need to fundraise £3.1million and the impact of Covid-19, has proven this task to be very challenging.”
Dr Henry Mcloughlin, on behalf of Life & Time, said “We are delighted by the fundraising achievement of this remarkable community group including Santa, who when faced with a very difficult winter, managed to turn the situation to the advantage of the community in such a remarkable way. We at Life and Time are very grateful for their donation and it will enable us to continue our work within the community”.
The Moore Family also wish to extend this thanks to each and every one who volunteered and helped out to make this event possible. They were thrilled by its overall success.
