Write a commentSpeakers including a broad spectrum of society are at a conference tonight Thurs 9 May at 7pm in the Canal Court Hotel in Newry to debate about the future of the island of Ireland.
The conference entitled "Our Rights Our Future" is run by a group called Ireland's Future hosted a Beyond Brexit event in Belfast’s Waterfront Hall earlier this year,
Speakers include: Niall Murphy, Anna McHugh, Emma De Souza, Daniel Holder, Padraig Ó Tiarnaigh, Bernardine Quinn, Patricia MacBride, Mr Justice Richard Humphreys, Professor Colin Harvey, Senator Frances Black, Senator Ian Marshall and Martina Devlin.
Tonight's event will examine the specific issue of citizens’ rights now, and the potential for a new rights framework in any future constitutional arrangement.
The aim/aims of the event is to provide a platform for debate about the future of the island.
There will be a two panel discussions with one panel discussing Rights denied, Rights under threat in the here and now.
and the second discussing A rights framework in a new Ireland.
