Write a commentA new ship had arrived in Newry today following her sailing from Maldon in England via the English Channel and Carlingford Lough.
Volharding is a Dutch Sailing Barge and the ship has been acquired by Newry’s Silvery Light Sailing who plan to base her permanently at the Albert Basin beside The Quays.
A team of volunteer crew escorted her to Newry having left England at the weekend. The crew were in celebratory form as they entered Victoria Lock en route to Newry.
