Potholes have been filled in by road services on the Foughilletra Road at Jonesborough following lobbying for remedial work to the road by Slieve Gullion Councillor, Mickey Larkin.
Commenting the councillor said "I have been lobbying the Department for many months to secure remedial works on this road. The potholes along the full length of this road were making driving conditions perilous.

"Megan Fearon and myself have raised this with the Department along with many others issues over the past two years.
"During the summer I arranged a site meeting with the local engineer to view the problems along the road. I was heartened to learn of his own concerns relating to this road. Within recent weeks every pothole along the road has been repaired. The community is grateful for this short term solution to an underlying problem of underinvestment in local infrastructure. This road is in dire need of resurfacing and, in the area which I represent, is probably the road which is in the worst state of disrepair. I will continue to lobby for a full resurfacing of this road and intend to raise it at a meeting with senior management at the Department for Infrastructure this week."
