This years Southern Area Hospice Midnight Memory Walk will take place on Saturday 1st October 2016.
The event which is generously supported by main sponsors, Kelly Bros – Warrenpoint promises to be a great night and we are inviting everyone to sign up and take part.
Katrina Loughran and Edel Downey whose brother Edmund (Ted) Kelly was cared for by Southern Area Hospice Services took part in the Hospice Midnight Memory Walk last year. They together with their cousin Gary Kelly of Kelly Bros who are the main sponsor for the event helped launch this years event at the Hospice.
Katrina and Edel are encouraging people to take part this year saying “We, as a family, loved taking part in this fantastic event last year in memory of our brother Ted and we would encourage everyone to come along and show their support on the night. It is a great evening and helps to raise much needed funds for a great cause. We look forward to taking part again this year to support the Hospice.”
So why not get all your friends and family together and come along and help celebrate and remember your loved ones on this special night. Plans are well underway for this year’s event which will begin and end at the beautiful setting of St. Colman’s College, Newry. Before the walk there will be a short remembrance service to give participants the chance to remember their loved ones.
At midnight walkers will set off on a 6km route around Newry. The route has been designed to be a fun and easy way for everyone to raise vital funds whilst supporting their local hospice.
Denise Doyle, Community Fundraising Officer at Southern Area Hospice Services added, “The Midnight Memory Walk is a very special event in our Calendar which gives people the chance to remember their loved ones, whilst also raising vital funds for Southern Area Hospice Services. It is always a lovely evening and I would encourage anybody who is thinking about it to sign up and join us for this great event.”
Kelly Bros, Warrenpoint who are the main sponsors of the event also added their support to the event saying, “'We are proud to be the main sponsor for an event which will raise funds for a vitally important care service for those living within the Southern Health Board Area. “
