Kilbroney Ramblers Walking Club is inviting new members to join its walks this month as part of National Walking Month. The County Down club has two walks planned later this month and is keen to welcome new faces of all ages and abilities.
The club draws its membership from across South Down and South Armagh, including Rostrevor, Warrenpoint, Rathfriland and Newry, as well as Belfast, and also counts members from Dundalk, Drogheda and Navan among its ranks. It is part of the Ulster Federation of Rambling Clubs, which represents 33 clubs across the north.
The next two walks take in some of the area's most popular routes. On Friday 22 May, walkers will meet at 9.30am at Kilbroney Forest Park in Rostrevor, followed by a walk on Friday 29 May, again at 9.30am, this time at Carlingford.
Paul Rodgers from the club said: "We're delighted to be opening our walks to new people this May. Our members are a friendly, welcoming bunch, and there's nothing better than getting out into the countryside with good company. If you've been thinking about trying a walking club, May is the perfect time to give it a go."
All walks are free for first-time visitors and no booking is required. Anyone interested simply needs to turn up at the meeting point. Club membership is available for those who wish to join after attending.
