Skypark in Carlingford will be lit by more than one million lights when Adventure Lights returns to the Cooley Peninsula. Nearly 30,000 attended last year and this year it runs from 24 October 2026 to 3 January 2027, with the trail themed around The Lost Kingdom and inspired by Irish mythology, Celtic legends and magical creatures.
New for 2026 is the Enchanted Swan Gardens, which draws on the story of the Children of Lír. Visitors will also meet Cú Chulainn and other legendary figures in the Realm of Legends, with characters placed along the trail.
The route takes in enchanted pathways, shimmering tunnels and large light displays. Families can find their way through the Ireland’s Ancient East Maze, try the giant Skynet Adventure Experience and take on The Quest for the Lost Spear, an interactive mystery inspired by Cú Chulainn. Younger visitors will follow clues through The Lost Kingdom before reaching the final reveal in Elf’s Hollow, where they will meet the Guardian Elf and complete the quest.
Thomas McArdle, CEO of McArdle Adventure Group, said: “There is something very special about this time of year in Carlingford. As the evenings draw in, Adventure Lights brings a magical atmosphere to Skypark and gives families the chance to wrap up, head outdoors and enjoy an evening together. This year, we’ve created even more to see and do, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming new and returning guests to Carlingford and the beautiful Cooley Peninsula.”
Festive food, warm drinks and seasonal treats will be on sale, and the event is aimed at families, friends, schools and groups.
