The British Government failure to fully restore EU funding is putting many local jobs and services at risk. That's the opinion of local MLA Liz Kimmins who recently met with local groups in Newry including Mencap and Clanrye Group.
The Newry and Armagh elected representative said “I have heard from staff, service users and their families who are extremely concerned as they head towards a cliff edge at the end of March, with no future funding confirmed yet for these vital services.
"This will result in significant job losses across the North, as well as leaving many people with disabilities with no access to crucial support going forward.
“The loss of these funds is yet another consequence for our communities of the Brexit forced upon us by a Tory government.
“Sinn Féin will continue to lobby the British Government to honour its commitment and restore lost EU funds and not to make our communities the latest casualty of the Tories’ calamitous Brexit mess."
Ms Kimmins concluded “The community and voluntary sector need an Executive up and running now and all parties working together around the table to provide support for these groups.”
“The protocol deal is done, there can be no more delays or excuses."
