Newry and Armagh MLA Liz Kimmins has described Iúr Cinn Fleadh as an outstanding festival showcase.
Iur Cinn Fleadh was held at the weekend with over 90 events throughout the city including concerts, Trad Cruises, a food tour, Bikes and Beats, Ghost Tour, Walking Quiz, Panic Station comedy night and sessions galore.
Speaking after attending this year’s festival in Newry Ms Kimmins has commended the organisers, local businesses, and community partners for delivering what she described as “a resounding success and a brilliant celebration of all that Newry has to offer.”
The Newry and Armagh MLA said: "It was an absolute pleasure to attend the Iúr Cinn Fleadh and experience firsthand the vibrant atmosphere, fantastic entertainment, and incredible hospitality that our city is so well known for. “From the Newry Food Tour, which showcased the outstanding culinary talents of venues like Canal Court Hotel, Art Bar Funkel, Finegan & Son, and many more, to the traditional music in The Railway Bar and the energy of the comedy night at Newry Market the entire festival was a testament to the community spirit and creativity that exists in abundance here in Newry.
"Events like these don’t happen by accident. They are the result of months of hard work and collaboration between local businesses, venues, artists, and community organisations. I want to pay tribute to the organisers of the Iúr Cinn Fleadh and particularly to NEWRY BID for their continued commitment to promoting and investing in our city."
Ms Kimmins added “It was fantastic to see such strong support from the public too, with events sold out and local streets buzzing with excitement. Festivals like this are not just a celebration, they are also a huge boost to our local economy and help cement Newry’s place as a thriving cultural and hospitality hub.
“Sinn Féin will continue working with all to support these events that drive our local economy and create exciting opportunities and social and cultural events for all. I’m already looking forward to the Newry Christmas Markets later this year and to seeing even more of what our city has to offer.”
