Local suicide prevention charity PIPS Hope and Support, announces the 11th Annual 10K Run & 5K Walk for World Suicide Prevention Day, which will take place on September 10, 2023. This highly anticipated event aims to raise awareness about suicide prevention, promote mental health advocacy, and stand in solidarity with those affected by suicide, as well as to remember loved ones lost to suicide.
The event will commence at 11:00 am from the Carnbane Industrial Estate in Newry. Participants can choose between the 10K run or the 5K walk, depending on their fitness level and preference. The route will take participants along the Newry Towpath, providing an atmosphere of camaraderie, solidarity, and hope.
Padraig Harte, PIPS Hope and Support's fundraising, marketing, and communications manager, stated, "Our annual 10K Run & 5K Walk is an opportunity for the community to come together to mark World Suicide Prevention Day, promote positive mental health, and remember loved ones lost to suicide. In its 11th year, we hope to see a large turnout of athletes, groups, supporters, individuals, and families for this heartening event. The scene is always set with a minute's silence dedicated to those lost to suicide, and each year it is inspiring to witness our community standing in solidarity before embarking on this beautiful route."
Registration for the 10K run is £12.00, and for the 5K walk, it is £8.00. Online registration can be completed at register.enthuse.com
All participants will be honored with an event medal, as well as trophies for the top three male and female finishers.
