Write a commentFollowing a plant-room failure this morning in Newry Leisure Centre the facility will be closed temporarily.
The failure resulted in a chemical spill and Newry, Mourne and Down District Council implemented it's Emergency Action Procedures and is currently in liaison with it's H & S Department and relevant emergency services, who have now departed.
Ambulance service were in attendance at Newry Leisure Centre earlier to ensure no impact on staff or members of the public.
Staff have now returned to the building with a view to getting the facility operational as soon as possible.
The centre will remain closed until this afternoon at the earliest, however the Council will keep customers updated through various media channels.
