Police in Newry have arrested a man in his 20s following a report of suspicious activity in the city centre on Friday, 3 April.
Officers were called to the Cornmarket area at around 11.30am after a report was received that a male had been acting suspiciously in the area. Following their attendance, a search was carried out which resulted in a number of items being found.
Chief Inspector Ruston said: "Officers attended and a subsequent search located a number of Stanley knives, an electronic tablet device, and a quantity of prescription medication."
The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, and possession of a Class C drug. Chief Inspector Ruston confirmed he "remains in custody at this time, assisting with police enquiries."
