Members of the Society of St Pius X celebrated the traditional Latin Mass during their Fifth annual visit to Ballyholland Mass Rock on the Feast of the Assumption which made for some great photography.
Fr Paul Morgan from London and Fr Paul Bierer from Dublin took part in the ceremony which attracted people from as far afield as Dublin.
The mass was followed by a procession of a statue of the Virgin Mary. A barbecue was held as well as dancing from the Cuchulain Dancers.
The Society of St Pius X is a Traditionalist Catholic organisation and was founded in 1970 by French archbishop Marcel Lefebvre.
A spokesman said "We are gathered here as Catholics who follow our faith in the light of tradition, a faith we both treasure and love. We identify very strongly with our fore fathers who were dispossessed of their churches and came here to the Mass Rock, risking their lives in order to worship and glorify the one true God."
"We come here to celebrate and pray that very same sacrifice of the Mass, word for word as we do every Sunday at Bessbrook as was prayed by those same ancestors, they came here to flee the new religion."
"Like them we flee the new mass which is very much based on the common book of prayer, the book of prayer which they rejected! This is a happy day a day when we remember our forefathers at this monument, a day when we acknowledge and celebrate the Assumption of the Mother of God into Heaven as Queen; it is also a day when we celebrate our wonderful Irish culture and a day when we celebrate the family in its genuine form which is the nucleus of society."
