I can't remember ever seeing a concert in Newry Market so if there was one please remind me. Tonights event was in aid of Oxfam with the support of Ace Taxis and with the help of three fantastic young bands The Hype, Stream and Lizard Queen the Market was rocking probably for the first time ever.
Unfortunately and probably not helped by the weather the audience was thin on the ground but it did make me think what a great venue it would make for future concerts.
A covered area in the centre of town, easily accessed, probably room for an audience of 500 to 1000 people and council property!
Use of this facility as a multipurpose venue really needs to be promoted and supported by our council.
