Master Jim Kearns the Principal of St Malachy's Primary School, Camlough is retiring after 36 years at the school.
MLA Justin McNulty MLA, a former pupil at the school called in to wish Master Kearns well on his last week as Principal.

“It is Incredible that Jim Kearns has been in St. Malachy’s for 36 years. 18 years as a teacher and 18 years as Principal. I want to thank him for his dedication and commitment to the children of the the Camlough area and wish him well in his retirement. We all have so many fond memories of our Primary School days and the Headmaster plays such an important role in creating the culture for pupils, teachers and staff to excel in.
“My memory of Jim as my P6 Teacher was that he was focussed and driven in helping us to learn and he was always firm but fair. He was also my first formal football coach and I can still recall some of his coaching points. My brothers, sisters and so many friends and neighbours fondly remember our time at St. Malachy’s and we know that the teachers and staff there played such a significant role in building a strong foundation in all of our educations.
“Thank you Master Kearns and thank you St. Malachy’s Primary School Camlough.”
