A Speed Indicator Device is planned for Mayobridge following agreement at a recent PCSP meeting.
Mrs McKevitt said, “I am delighted that after significant lobbying we have secured a Speed Indicator Device as you enter Mayobridge from the Hilltown side. Having been approached many times by local people in the area, I know of the significant safety concerns along this stretch of road. We know through trials how effective indicators can be in slowing drivers down particularly when approaching villages like Mayobridge and this will provide some relief to local people who have been concerned for quite some time."
Cllr McKevitt added “It is important that we see further investment in this scheme by Council. The SDLP was instrumental providing guidance as to where these devices would be located but we are well aware of the demand in the Crotlieve area alone for the installation of speed indicators. The SDLP will continue to lobby hard for improved road safety and to ensure funding continues for this important scheme."
