Newry & Armagh MLA Justin McNulty has praised the powerful and poignant message at an Armagh vigil held in memory of the 28 women killed in Northern Ireland since 2020 and has said that we cannot keep failing women and girls.
Mr. McNulty said: “Each name remembered last night represents a woman who was loved and irreplaceable. Their lives mattered and their loss is a heartbreak that ripples through families, communities, and generations.
“This is not just a women’s issue, it is a test of our values and our will to build a fairer and safer society. The SDLP will continue to campaign for comprehensive, survivor-centred strategies that protect the vulnerable, challenge misogyny, and deliver justice."
Mr McNulty added “Behind every statistic is a human life and a devastated family. We cannot keep failing women and girls. They deserve to live free from fear not just in theory, but in reality everywhere, and all of the time. I stand with every survivor and every family mourning a loss, and with all those who continue to fight for a future where every woman and girl is safe, respected, and protected.”
