Mill Street and Lower Water Street are latest Resurfacing projects

Work commences this week on a £100k resurfacing scheme on Lower Water Street and part of Mill Street in Newry. 

It's planned that the scheme will greatly improve the surface quality of the footways and carriageways and it should be completed by the end of August 2017.

The resurfacing works will include Mill Street from its junction with Hill Street and will also include Lower Water Street through to the junction of Water Street with Abbey Way.  Mill Street will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the works on Mill Street, however pedestrian access will be maintained at all times during the scheme. Signed diversions will be in place.

The works will be completed in phases to minimise the disruption to businesses and the public.

Prohibition of on street parking and traffic control will be utilised to complete the preparatory kerbing and drainage works on Lower Water Street.  A road closure will be necessary to complete the surfacing works on this section of the works.

The dates and duration of the road closures will be dependent on the progress of the scheme and on favourable weather conditions. In order to help ensure the safety of road users and road workers the public is asked to comply with all temporary traffic restrictions and to drive with care when travelling through, or in the vicinity, of the works. Delays may happen from time to time.
