MLA Justin McNulty has expressed his “profound appreciation” to all involved and associated with last weekends rally to save Daisy Hill and the Newry and Armagh public representative said that the message sent out couldn't have been clearer.
Mr. McNulty commented: “Sunday’s protest was as strong a demonstration of people power as Newry has seen in recent memory. The sheer strength of support for Daisy Hill Hospital and those it serves was totally inspirational.

“I was particularly mindful of staff and patients in Daisy Hill who received such a genuine lift from the solidarity on display from thousands of local people who are determined to protect our hospital.
“Enormous credit belongs to the SOS Daisy Hill Committee for organising yesterday’s demonstration, and equal credit belongs to every man, woman and child who took to the streets to make a stand for our hospital. Go raibh mile maith agaibh go léir!
“The message to the health authorities couldn’t be clearer - we will no longer tolerate temporary fixes or half baked solutions. Daisy Hill needs a long term plan to safeguard its future. Nothing less will be accepted.”
