Write a commentMLA Karen McKevitt has expressed her immense pride as the people of Newry showed their incredible support for autism awareness on World Autism Awareness Day held on 2nd April.
Mrs McKevitt said, “It was definitely a blue weekend in Newry as crowds of people celebrated World Autism Day. Not only was our Town Hall lit up for the occasion but a sea of people in blue released balloons and participated in a run/walk along the Towpath, all in an effort to raise awareness of autism.
“I am heartened by the generosity of spirit shown by the people of Newry to charities such as Autism Families, Autism NI and H.A.N.D. all of who are working to make a positive difference to people with autism.
"I will continue to work to ensure that adequate resources are made available to fund the implementation of The Autism Strategy."
