Killeavy Castle Estate is planning to expand their hospitality offering at their stunning location in the shadow of Slieve Gullion.
A Planning Proposal of Application Notice has been submitted with the owners planning to build an additional 40 bedrooms, associated service areas, a new function room and additional parking at the popular visitor attraction. If permission is granted there will be a total of 85 bedrooms on site.
The application from Mick Boyle, Killeavy Castle Estate would see a block built separate from the Castle and existing Hotel site on a greenfield area close to and just south of the current hotel building.
Boyle's parents came from Killeavy and Fathom and they moved to Sydney, Australia in the early 1960's. Based in Sydney he and his wife Robin bought Killeavy Castle in 2013 and began renovation works in 2017 building a 45 bedroom hotel.
The enterprise opened in April 2019 and the luxury facility has been very popular for weddings, top class locally produced food and pampering weekends away ever since.
