A new Newry walking tour showcasing the best of local food and drink produce has been launched by Newry BID (Business Improvement District), in conjunction with Newry Mourne and Down District Council.
The innovative "Newry Food Tour" is set to take locals and visitors alike on a delightful gastronomic journey sampling food and drink produce through the heart of Newry City the largest city within the Mourne, Gullion, Strangford UNESCO Global Geopark.
Newry has a rich cultural heritage and diverse culinary scene. The "Newry Food Tour" aims to showcase this with participants taking the opportunity to try a curated selection of local dishes, flavours, and beverages.
Eamonn Connolly Newry BID Manager said "We are excited to unveil this inaugural ‘Newry Food Tour,' as part of our Newry BID ‘Food in the City’ initiative. This initiative aims to promote the vibrant food retail and hospitality sector in Newry and this tour promises something different for anyone who enjoys trying local produce. This is a guided walking tour which lasts approximately 3 hours. During that time our local guide will provide an insiders perspective on local dishes, local restaurants, cafes and bakeries and their own fascinating stories. This is a great opportunity to find out more about local food and drink while exploring different businesses across the city.”
The tour will be led by knowledgeable and passionate local guide Declan McConaghy, who will share his insights about Newry's culinary heritage, its charming history, and the traditions that have shaped its unique food culture.

The small group tour is suitable for food enthusiasts of all ages and promises to be a tasty experience.
The first "Newry Food Tour" is scheduled for Thursday 31 August & 28 September 2023 at 2pm.
