Environment Minister Mark H Durkin this week launched a challenging DOE road safety advert to encourage more seatbelt wearing. The advertisement has appeared on television all this week.
Local man Brendan McGreevy is one of the actors in the production.
The campaign aims to highlight the loss of life as a result of not wearing a seatbelt.
Last year seven people were killed and thirty six were seriously injured, as a result of not wearing their seatbelt.
While the vast majority of people wear seatbelts in Northern Ireland, DOE research indicates that there are lapses, particularly among young people, who unbuckle for a short while to turn and chat or show photographs on mobile phones to their friends.
One trip can kill.
