1 CommentIf you always knew that one day you were destined for the big screen, now is you chance to prove it, with an open audition this weekend in Newry for teenagers over 15 and adults of all ages for a feature film set in the city called 'Wildfire'.
Casting Director, Nick McGinley from Shaheen Baig Casting will be holding the open audition day this Saturday 6 October at St. John Bosco Centre, Chequer Hill from 10am until 6pm. Shooting for the film will start 22 October.
As Nick says "We're looking for all ages, shapes, sizes and ethnicities, Irish-looking Newry people with northern accents but also African, Asian and Eastern European people living in the area. Men and women in their mid teens, 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and indeed 80s. No experience required. I just want to see people as they normally are. It's a short chat on camera with each person."
'Wildfire' is a feature film written and to be directed by Cathy Brady set and to be shot around her hometown of Newry.
Newry born Cathy is no stranger to film being the award-winning film-maker of 'Small Change', 'Rough Skin', 'Morning' and the first season of 'Can't Cope, Won't Cope'.
The film will be produced by Carlo Cresto-Dina and Charles Steel for WF Films and Flame Film Productions.

So far, only three lead roles have been cast. Auditions have already been cast for the child parts at Newry Leisure Centre(They all needed to be able to swim.)
All other adult roles will be found through a mixture of auditioning local non-actors and professional actors from NI.
So remember all you have to do is turn up at the Bosco Centre sometime between 10am and 6pm on Saturday ... and who knows where it could lead!
