Write a commentThis weekend coming sees the Newry City Blues Festival return for it's second year.
Vice Chairperson Gillian Fitzpatrick, festival performers and Newry City venue owners launched the event at Newry Town Hall.
Although it is only in its 2nd year, the Council’s Vice Chair Person was excited to attend and support the festival’s efforts in bringing excellent music and tourism to Newry.
The Vice Chairperson commented ‘’Newry has so much to offer in terms of hospitality, tourism and the arts and this great event embraces all of those to the highest of standards’’.
Helping to organise the event, Ian Sands from ‘Blues on the Bay’ also commented that ‘’ The Newry City Blues Festival musicians surpass many of the world-class festival headliners and this is the time for local music fans to come out to enjoy blues, jazz and rock right on their own doorstep’’.
The 4-day event shall take place over the coming bank holiday weekend (28th to 31st Aug. 2015) in The Brass Monkey, Amplified Bar, Cobbles, The Bank Bar and Bellinis.
Performers will include Rab McCullough, Bernie Loughran, The Backbone Blues Band, Andy Whittaker, Allison McGrath and The Blues Katz.
Most of the events have are free admission and the late afternoon/early evening gigs are family friendly too.
