An in-person screening and panel discussion spotlighting the voices of migrant women, that often go unheard, will take place at The Bookshelf, Newry on Thursday June 18 at 7.30pm.
‘Migrant Women Seen & Heard’ run during Refugee Week is being organised by independent media outlets VIEWdigital and Newry.ie, with support from the Community Development & Health Network.
The event will see the screening of a short film shot in Warrenpoint. It was co-created with migrant women through VIEWdigital, with support from Future Screens and focuses on the question - How is the health of migrant women with little English being impacted, if no female interpreters are available at medical appointments?
The issue is being highlighted as part of Indie News Week, set up by journalism charity the Public Interest News Foundation.
