Write a commentMembers of Newry District Interchurch Forum are taking part in a six week course at the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre at present and invite any interested parties to join them.
The Course entitled ‘Dialogue in a Multi Faith World’ is being delivered by the Reverend Dr Johnston McMaster from the Irish School of Ecumenics.
The course started on 6th March and will run every Thursday evening from 7.30-9.30pm until 10th April in the Sean Hollywood Arts Centre, Newry.

The Forum is also actively involved in working within the community. Over 25 people, including young people from our post primary schools, attend the monthly theological discussion group. The group hosts lively discussions on a range of topical themes such as ‘miracles’, ‘good and evil’. Guest speakers from the various religious traditions across Newry and Mourne, such as the Quakers and the Presbyterian Church are also invited to the theological discussion group to share their knowledge, traditions, customs and ideas. The Forum will host its annual symposium in October 2014 and also maintains close contact with the suicide prevention group, PIPS Newry.
In partnership with the Irish Churches for Peace Project, Embrace and Newry and Mourne District Council, the Interchurch Forum is involved in promoting ‘A Cultural Journey’, a course which aims to recognise and celebrate the cultural diversity of Newry and Mourne. The course starts on Saturday 26th April and will provide participants with the opportunity to explore the dual concept of culture and identity.
The Good Relations Section of Newry and Mourne District Council continues to support and promote many of the activities that are organised by the Newry District Interchurch Forum, which involves representatives from some of the main churches and organisations in the area, including the Roman Catholic Church, Church of Ireland and Salvation Army
