Write a commentDaire Hughes, Mayor, Newry and Mourne District Council has praised the 'Can do' attitude of our local business community at this weeks Newry Jobs Fair organised by the Department for Employment and Learning.
Speaking at the Fair Daire said "The Jobs Fair as you can see brings employers, support organisations and jobseekers together under one roof to showcase employment vacancies that exist and to provide advice and guidance on a range of training and re-skilling opportunities.
"It is so important in my Councils view to promote and raise awareness of opportunities such as this that exist and there are many.
"It is in turn vital that this promotion of employer activity assists in boosting local business, business exports and attracting foreign direct investment into our region.
"I would like to ensure you, as Mayor of Newry and Mourne District, that our Council in partnership with you all is to the forefront of any opportunities that exist and that all the stakeholders around the room are proactive in marketing this area as a location that can do business."
The Mayor concluded "It is well known that this regions success is the result of a “can do” attitude among all sectors of the business community and a strong bond of partnership between the public, private, and voluntary communities. We also have the workforce capability, infrastructure opportunities, the education system and the previously mentioned partnership working which has all contributed our region’s success and will continue to do so in the future."
