A new cross border community group has been set up with the aim of protecting the Carlingford Lough region.
The group called 'Carlingford Lough Keepers' are holding their first Public Meeting in Newry early next week.
An inaugural meeting was held in The Canal Court Hotel, Newry, 23 October 2024 where it was decided to launch the group with the aim to provide a united voice for the protection of all nature in and around Carlingford Lough.
Carlingford Lough is one of the most beautiful areas on the island of Ireland surrounded as it is by the Mourne Mountains on one side and the Cooleys and Slieve Foye on the other with the Clanrye River and Newry Canal both flowing in to it.
All individuals, community groups, associations and other interested bodies who would like to share the groups aspirations are warmly invited to join them at their Public Meeting where they plan to form a Committee
The meeting is on Tuesday 26 November at 7pm in Ballybot House, 28 Cornmarket, Newry, BT 358 BG so please go along if you can.
