Newry and Mourne Museum has re-opened after closing it's doors for three months to enable them to revamp the galleries, corridors and displays.

Since it's move to Bagenal's Castle in 2007 a number of key items were aquired and there wasn't the facility to display these. A new design of the three main galleries helped ensure these items are now on view.

Five new museum cases have been added. One of these exhibits items from an archaeological dig at Carnbane.

Another new addition are interactive touch screen displays highlighting the history of the castle and the former site of McCanns Bakery.

Commenting to the guests who attended, Cllr Rosiin Mulgrew, Chairperson, Newry, Mourne and Down Council said "The revamp of Newry and Mourne Museum will offer guests to the museum, old and new, a revitalised perspective, as more of this regions rich history is now on display."
