The Prince’s Trust 'Team 30' from Newry have recently completed a twelve week Princes Trust programme and as part of their Community Project they painted the music room at the Gateway Club in Newry helping make it more appealing for various community groups to use.
During the programme the students went on a three day residential in which they developed skills in leadership, team work and furthered their social skills.
Team member Kurtis Norton said “I have gained so much by completing the Prince’s Trust programme, I am hoping my work placement will help me to progress into employment”.
As part of the programme various community groups, including PIPS, Dunlewey and ACET NI spoke to the students on a range of issues. The students also gained a Health & Safety qualification from the college.
Those who took part in the programme were honoured and recognised for their invaluable contribution to the community.
If you would like to take part in the next Prince's Trust Team programme commencing in September 2016, or know someone who is unemployed and aged 16-24 who may be interested, please contact Paul Baxter at SRC on 078 0975 6569 or baxterpa@src.ac.uk
