An event calling for MLA's to get back to work at Stormont is being held at 7pm this Tuesday, 28 August, at the Albert Basin in Newry.
It's part of a 'We Deserve Better' movement that began with a man in a field in Enniskillen. Dylan Quinn was fed up with the lack of political motivation to get Stormont back up and running. MLAs continue to accept full salaries and with costs now passing £9m and with no sign of the day-to-day running of government departments. Dylan made a video calling for a gathering of people to demand action.

Hundreds of people are now planning to attend events all over Northern Ireland, including one in Newry’s Albert Basin this Tuesday.
Tuesday marks 589 days without government. Although this isn’t officially a world record, due to the governing powers of Westminster. It has left N.I as the longest running democracy without their own functioning government.
At this moment, the event is calling simply for MLAs to restart negotiations to get back into Stormont and get back to work. We know that budgets, papers and political decisions that affect our daily lives have come to a complete standstill and we feel that the people of Northern Ireland deserve better.
The event is non- party political and peaceful. We encourage everyone to wear bright colours and to makes signs using the #WeDeserveBetter hashtag and the number “589”. Everyone is welcome.
