Newry Agricultural Society launched the Newry Show this week at a funcition in the Canal Court Hotel. The Show will take place at Derrymore House on Saturday the 29th of June.
At the launch Show Chairman Tommy Collins welcomed Mayor Of Newry and Mourne John McArdle, guest speakers Harry Sinclair President of Ulster Farmers Union and Jim Harrison Vice President of Irish Shows Association, sponsors, stewards, show friends, BMWR (Burren, Mayobridge, Warrenpoint, Rostrevor) Young Farmers and committee to the 2013 Newry Show Launch.
The Chairman went on to thank Newry & Mourne District Council, Canal Court Hotel and our other loyal sponsors who have supported us immensely through the years, without sponsorship shows dont happen. He also wished everyone a very enjoyable night and thanked the Canal Court Hotel for a beautiful supper.
Each section have worked tirelessly to provide the 2013 Show for Newry & Mourne and further afield. For the 1st time in over 50 years poultry will make an appearance at the Show offering 6 different classes; enquiries contact Section Chairman David Beattie 07525932787.
Zwartble Breed Sheep classes and Pygmy Goat classes have also been added to the schedule. Newry Show will host "The Ulster Championship Summer Event 2013 of Pure Breed Aberdeen Angus" as well as the usual cattle qualifiers for finals at other shows.
In the Horse Section a new class "Class 162 - Rescue Horse & Pony Class" has been added and again this year in association with Warrenpoint Riding Club Jump Cross will take place, entries on field.
Childrens Section have their variety of classes which includes Dundalk/Newry qualifiers and special needs and Horticulture have again this year the Presentation of the "Paddy Hanratty Memorial Trophy" for the best garden in Newry & Mourne 2013.
The Home Industries section has a brand new qualifier added to their list the "All Ireland Bread Baking Championship" and the final takes place at Castleblaney Show on Monday 5th August.
The ever successful Dog Show commences at 2pm this year and entries are taken on the field. For the "young and not so young" Buttercrane Shopping Centre are once again supporting the Show Day Competitions,
Most Appropriate dressed Lady, Glamorous Granny, Farmer Boy, Bonny Babies and this year "Farmer Girl" instead of show princess. Buttercrane will be running fashion shows throughout the day.
A variety of tradestands will be displaying and selling their wares throughout the day and catering will be available for the needs of all ages. Cromore Castles will be there to entertain the children from early until late, face painting, Phils Animal Farm and much more.
Judging in all sections will commence at 10am.
A full fun day out for all the family is guaranteed.
